The Epiphone 1959 ES-355 Reissue is your passport back in time when semi-hollowbodies ruled the airwaves and legends were born in smoky clubs. This isn't your run-of-the-mill Epiphone; it's what happens when Gibson Custom Shop gets involved and decides to sprinkle some serious vintage magic onto an already iconic design.
The ES-355's layered maple and poplar body delivers that sweet spot between hollow and solid-body guitars — warm and resonant when you need it but ready to growl with authority when you crank up the gain. Two Gibson CustomBucker pickups serve up authentic PAF-style tones that'll have vintage purists nodding in approval, while the upgraded electronics ensure every note rings true to the original 1959 vision.
Your Ticket to Authentic Vintage Tone
The heart of any great semi-hollow guitar lies in its tonewoods and electronics, and the 1959 ES-355 Reissue doesn't cut corners on either front.
Layered Maple/Poplar Body Construction: This isn't just about looking pretty (though it certainly does that). The layered maple provides that classic semi-hollow warmth and resonance, while the poplar adds structural integrity and tonal balance. You get the best of both worlds, vintage character with modern reliability.
Gibson CustomBucker Pickups: Finding genuine vintage PAF pickups is like hunting for unicorns, but these CustomBuckers are the next best thing. They deliver that open, organic tone with incredible dynamic response that made the originals legendary.
Premium Vintage-Style Wiring: Under the hood, you'll find the good stuff — Switchcraft toggle switch and output jack, CTS potentiometers, and Mallory 150 capacitors.
Playability That Honors the Past, Built for Today
The 1959 ES-355 Reissue proves that vintage inspiration doesn't mean sacrificing modern playability standards.
'50s Medium C Neck Profile: This mahogany neck hits the sweet spot between comfortable and substantial. It's got enough meat to feel secure in your hand during aggressive playing, but it won't cramp your style during marathon sessions or intricate fingerpicking passages.
Long-Tenon Construction: Here's where things get technical in the best way. The long tenon extends deep into the body, creating better sustain and improved structural integrity.
24.75-Inch Scale Length with Ebony Fingerboard: The classic Gibson scale length provides that familiar string tension and bendability, while the ebony fingerboard adds a touch of luxury and responds beautifully to your fretting hand.
Visual Appeal That Commands Attention
Sometimes a guitar needs to look as good as it sounds, and the ES-355 Reissue delivers on both fronts with Gibson Custom Shop-inspired aesthetics.
Deluxe Binding and Block Inlays: The multi-ply binding isn't just decorative — it's a hallmark of premium guitar construction. Combined with the iconic block inlays on both the fingerboard and headstock, this guitar announces its vintage pedigree from across the room.
Gibson Custom Shop Historic Hardware: The gold-plated aluminum tailpiece isn't just for show; it's a faithful reproduction of the original 1959 hardware. Paired with reliable Grover Rotomatic tuners, you get period-correct looks with modern tuning stability.
Beautiful Finishes with Vintage Sheen: That deep, lustrous finish captures the essence of the original while the vintage-style sheen gives it that authentic aged appearance. It's the kind of finish that looks even better under stage lights.
Bottom Line: Vintage Soul, Modern Reliability
The Epiphone 1959 ES-355 Reissue bridges the gap between vintage authenticity and contemporary craftsmanship. If you're a blues purist seeking those classic semi-hollow tones or a rock player wanting to add some vintage flavor to your arsenal, this guitar delivers the goods without breaking the bank.

I have had Epiphone guitars in the past. Absolutely none of them touch this thing. You may have to set it up to your liking out of the box. But MAN! The tones out of this thing are glorious! If you are on the fence go ahead and climb over. You won't regret it.

I was very impressed with
I was very impressed with this guitar. Ebony fingerboard to the mother of pearl and lays rolled fret boards were all clean no rough edges very very clean. The thing is just built like a beast. Then when you plug it in oh boy, the tones that you can get out of this thing those custom bucker pick ups ...
Nothing to dislike
I was surprised about how big the sound is. . and how warm and beautiful

Q: Can you tell me the differences between the epi 335 and the 1959 335?
Answers on Content by By AMS Customer Service on Mon Jul 27 2026
A: The number one difference is the pickups: the Epiphone has Alnico Classic Pro Humbuckers versus the Gibson's calibrated T-Type Burstbuckers. The secondary difference is the build of the Epiphone laminated 5-ply compared with the 3-ply construction on the Gibson. Hope this helps.
