Gibson Custom Shop Jimmy Page EDS-1275 Doubleneck VOS '69 Cherry
Ever wondered how Jimmy Page pulled off those cascading 12-string arpeggios in "Stairway to Heaven" before launching into the fiery 6-string solo? The answer was hanging around his neck: the legendary 1969 Gibson EDS-1275 Doubleneck.
Now, Gibson Custom Shop has recreated that iconic axe with painstaking precision. Using 3D scanning technology and a close collaboration with Page himself, they've crafted a guitar that captures the doubleneck in its original, pristine state — before it earned the battle scars of countless world tours. This VOS (Vintage Original Spec) model isn't just a tribute; it's a time machine, offering you the chance to wield one of rock's most recognizable instruments.
Built from the Blueprint of a Legend
When Gibson Custom Shop set out to recreate Jimmy Page's 1969 EDS-1275, they didn't settle for eyeballing old photos. They used 3D scanning technology to map every contour, curve, and dimension of the original guitar, ensuring this reissue is as faithful as humanly possible. The result is a doubleneck that feels like it was pulled straight from 1969 — minus the wear and tear.
One-Piece Mahogany Body: The double-cutaway design offers full access to both the 6-string and 12-string necks, with a solid mahogany body that delivers warmth, sustain, and the resonance that made the original so iconic.
Dual Mahogany Necks with 3D-Scanned Profiles: Both necks feature custom Jimmy Page profiles recreated from scans of the original guitar, complete with long tenons and hide glue fit for vintage-correct construction and maximum tonal transfer.
Bound Indian Rosewood Fretboards: Each neck sports 20 authentic medium jumbo frets and aged cellulose nitrate parallelogram inlays, with a comfortable 12" radius perfect for both chord work and blistering solos.
A Pickup That's Pure Page
The sonic heart of the Jimmy Page EDS-1275 lies in its four custom-wound Custombucker pickups, each loaded with Alnico 5 magnets to deliver the same tonal firepower that defined Zeppelin's sound. Whether you're ringing out chimey 12-string passages or diving into thick, growling 6-string riffs, these pickups have the dynamic range and clarity to handle it all.
Jimmy Page EDS-1275 Custombuckers: Two uncovered pickups with double black bobbins power the 6-string neck, while a covered pair handles the 12-string duties — all voiced to capture the original's legendary output and articulation.
Hand-Wired Electronics: The two volume and two-tone controls use CTS® potentiometers and period-correct ceramic disc capacitors, ensuring authentic vintage response and smooth, responsive control.
Switchcraft® Hardware: From the 3-way pickup selector to the neck select switch and output jack, every electrical component is premium Switchcraft® for bulletproof reliability and clarity.
Vintage Aesthetic, Modern Reliability
This isn't a heavily aged relic; it's a recreation of Jimmy's EDS-1275 as it looked on day one, before it graced stages like Madison Square Garden or Royal Albert Hall. The VOS (Vintage Original Spec) nitrocellulose lacquer finish provides a softly aged patina without the heavy wear simulation of the Murphy Lab, striking a perfect balance between vintage vibe and pristine condition.
VOS Nitrocellulose Lacquer in '69 Cherry: The finish breathes with the guitar, allowing the mahogany to resonate naturally while delivering that classic Gibson sheen and subtle aging that screams authenticity.
Kluson® Double Line, Double Ring Tuners: All 18 tuners match the originals spec-for-spec, complete with keystone buttons and the correct 17-degree headstock angle for proper string tension and vintage aesthetics.
Premium Accessories Included: Comes with a Gibson Custom hardshell case, a vintage leather strap, and a certificate of authenticity featuring a photo by legendary rock photographer Barrie Wentzell — because owning a piece of history should be properly documented.
