For guitarists who prefer a more contemporary interpretation of the iconic Les Paul, Gibson Custom proudly introduces the Les Paul Standard—a modernized take on a legendary design that delivers today's most desirable features while preserving the uncompromising craftsmanship for which Gibson Custom is renowned.
At its foundation is a solid mahogany body with nine-hole weight relief, providing enhanced comfort without sacrificing the sustain, resonance, and tonal character that define the Les Paul experience. A lightly figured AA maple top adds articulation and clarity to the mahogany's rich midrange response, creating the unmistakable voice that has made the Les Paul a benchmark for generations. Single-ply binding frames the top for a clean, refined appearance that subtly distinguishes it from more traditional offerings.
The mahogany neck features a comfortable Medium C profile that strikes the perfect balance between slim and substantial. Topped with a one-piece rosewood fingerboard, it offers exceptional playability with 22 medium jumbo frets, binding, and classic cellulose trapezoid inlays.
A nylon nut and Kluson single-line, single-ring tuning machines provide smooth operation and dependable tuning stability. The hardware package includes a no-wire ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge for precise intonation adjustment and a lightweight Stop Bar tailpiece for optimal string coupling and sustain. Coordinated plastics and appointments complete the instrument's clean, contemporary aesthetic.
Electronics feature a proven pairing of Gibson Burstbucker humbuckers, with a Burstbucker 2 in the neck position and a slightly hotter Burstbucker 3 in the bridge. Hand-wired to independent volume and tone controls using premium CTS audio-taper potentiometers, the pickups deliver outstanding clarity, dynamics, and versatility. A Switchcraft three-way toggle switch and output jack ensure reliable performance, while Top Hat knobs with dial pointers provide a classic finishing touch.
