The Gibson Hummingbird is legendary for its versatility; it is equally at home strumming first-position chords and delivering soaring lead lines. We are pleased to release a new version of the Hummingbird Standard with rosewood back and sides that has all of the playing and sonic characteristics you’d expect from the world-renowned square-shouldered acoustic but with slightly fuller bass response and overtone complexity due to the rosewood body.
The Hummingbird Standard Rosewood features a solid Sitka spruce top paired with rosewood back and sides, delivering a rich, powerful voice with additional depth, fuller bass response, and increased overtone complexity. Traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing enhances the guitar’s natural resonance and dynamic response, while the square-shoulder body provides the projection and balance that have made the Hummingbird a Gibson classic.
The Hummingbird Standard’s mahogany neck has a comfortable Rounded profile and is attached to the body with a compound dovetail neck-to-body joint using hot hide glue. The neck features a bound Indian rosewood fingerboard with 20 standard frets and distinctive mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays.
This ’bird has a TUSQ nut, saddle, and bridge pins, while gold Grover Rotomatic tuners provide smooth, dependable tuning stability. The reverse-belly rosewood bridge and iconic Hummingbird pickguard with its distinctive graphics complete the instantly recognizable look of this legendary Gibson acoustic.
