A Small Body with Vintage Charm and Balanced Tonality
Gibson was a pioneer in the development of small body guitars in the beginning of the 1900s with its "L-Series Small Body" acoustics. These smaller Gibsons deliver a tonality that is best described in Gibson's 1934 catalog as a sound of "perfect balance." The L-00 Original, while achieving all the advantages of an acoustic that is comfortable to play in your home, still produces Gibson's rich full sound.
The L-00 Original features a classic white script Gibson logo, subtle antiquing on the top and back binding, and Golden Age nickel tuners. Its compact body delivers a balanced, articulate voice with the warmth and character expected from a Gibson acoustic, making it equally at home for fingerstyle playing, blues, country, and singer-songwriter applications.
Crafted with a small-body design, the L-00 Original features a solid Sitka spruce top with mahogany back and sides. Traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing enhances the guitar's natural resonance and dynamic response, while the gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish allows the instrument to develop its distinctive Gibson character.
The mahogany neck features a comfortable SlimTaper profile and is joined to the body with a compound dovetail neck-to-body joint. The rosewood fingerboard features 19 standard frets, a 12" radius, and classic mother-of-pearl dot inlays. A bone nut and bone saddle provide a solid foundation for the guitar's natural voice.
The traditional rectangular, closed-slot rosewood bridge is paired with TUSQ bridge pins, while the L-00 pickguard and black truss rod cover complete the understated vintage-inspired aesthetic.
