The Ibanez Bass Workshop BTB865MS proves that high-quality doesn’t have to mean high-cost. This 5-string multi-scale bass features neck-through construction, premium tonewoods, and professional-grade electronics — all without breaking the bank. Equipped with ergonomic T1 pickups and a versatile 3-band EQ with mid-frequency switching, it’s designed for players seeking clarity, comfort, and tonal flexibility.
The BTB865MS features a 37–35-inch multi-scale design that optimizes string tension and playability. The longer 37-inch scale on the low B-string provides tight, focused lows with exceptional clarity, while the shorter 35-inch scale on the higher strings reduces hand fatigue for effortless, fast runs. Paired with its neck-through construction and a 5-piece Maple/Walnut neck reinforced with graphite rods, this bass delivers massive sustain and rock-solid stability for any playing style.
Premium materials set the BTB865MS apart. Its Ash top and back, combined with Okoume wings, deliver a bright, articulate tone with rich sustain that stands out in any mix. The Panga Panga fretboard adds sharp attack to the highs and tight clarity to the lows and mids, while durable medium stainless steel frets ensure long-lasting performance. The MR5S bridge features adjustable saddles with +/- 1.5mm string spacing, allowing you to customize the setup to perfectly suit your playing style.
The BTB865MS features custom Ibanez T1 humbucking pickups with two individually mounted coils. This design delivers tight bass, punchy mids, and clear highs, offering versatile voicing for any genre. The rounded pickup edges also serve as an ergonomic thumb rest, while the offset coil positioning ensures a parallel resting surface with the strings — a rare comfort feature for multi-scale basses.
The Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ provides easy tone shaping, including a 3-way mid-frequency switch (250, 450, or 700 Hz) and an EQ bypass switch for passive operation, where the treble knob functions as a global tone control.
The Ibanez Bass Workshop BTB865MS delivers top-tier craftsmanship and attention to detail, offering the quality of a custom shop build at a price accessible to working musicians. Whether you're grooving through funk, powering progressive metal, or exploring jazz fusion, this bass provides exceptional clarity, comfort, and reliability. Plus, the included hardshell case ensures your instrument stays protected from gig to gig.
