The Kali Audio WS62 dual 6-inch active studio subwoofer packs a punch in a small footprint. With two powerful 6.5-inch drivers, this sub is capable of reaching 120 dB max SPL and 27 Hz lower frequency response - powerful enough for any studio application, yet small enough to fit into even the smallest areas. Plus, thanks to its horizontally opposed woofers, you don’t have to worry about any net vibration from the subwoofer.
When it comes time to pair the WS62 with other popular studio monitors, there's no need to worry - it's designed with an 80 Hz high-passed output to ensure compatibility. But the best feature might just be the footswitch jack – this lets you bypass both the sub and crossover so you can hear your mix on full range speakers without any hassle. Fans will be pleased with how easy and convenient this is!
In addition to the 80 Hz crossover, the subwoofer can be set for LFE mode or be used with an external crossover. Polarity may also be reversed if necessary.
Like all of Kali’s speakers, the WS-6.2 uses a unique port tube that virtually eliminates chuffing and port compression, allowing for clear, powerful bass with minimal distortion.
Small form factor:
The W2-6.2 takes up slightly more than one cubic foot. It is about the same size as most 8-inch studio monitors, or about half as large as comparably performing subwoofers.
This makes it ideal for use under your desk, or in other positions where space is at a premium.
Horizontally opposed 6.5-Inch high-excursion woofers:
The WS-6.2 uses two horizontally opposed 6.5-Inch high-excursion woofers. The movement of the two woofers cancel each other out, giving you deep, clear, powerful bass without any vibration. A lack of vibration means that the subwoofer won’t scoot across the floor, and it won’t cause objects it might be touching to rattle or buzz.
Using two woofers allows the WS-6.2 to have output similar to a subwoofer with a 10-inch driver while taking up far less space.
120 dB max SPL, 27 Hz lower frequency response:
Despite its diminutive size, the WS-6.2 is capable of 120 dB max SPL, and lower frequency extension down to 27 Hz. This makes it an ideal companion to almost any set of stereo studio monitors.
With the LFE crossover, the WS-6.2 can be used on its own in small multichannel setups. For medium sized setups, including immersive mixing applications, another subwoofer can be added without breaking the bank.
80 Hz, LFE, and External Crossover Modes:
The WS-6.2 features 80 Hz, LFE, and External Crossover modes. The 80 Hz crossover mode is engineered to work with Kali’s full-range monitors, but it will also pair well with full range monitors from most popular manufacturers.
LFE mode turns the outputs off, and low passes the sub at 120 Hz. This allows the sub to be used as the .1 channel in configurations like 5.1 or Atmos.
For users wanting more flexibility, the external crossover mode turns the crossover off entirely.
TRS/XLR Combi Jacks and RCA input:
The WS-6.2 can accept XLR, TRS, or RCA input, so you can plug whatever gear you’re already using into the WS-6.2. Output to full range monitors is provided via XLR
Bypass Switch:
A footswitch jack allows users to bypass both the sub and the crossover so they can hear their mix on their full range speakers. Footswitches are sold separately, but a number of inexpensive options are available at every music retailer.
Polarity inversion:
Depending on the shape and size of your room, the position of the subwoofer relative to the monitors, and your listening position relative to all of those factors, the subwoofer may sum better with the monitors with the polarity reversed.
Low Noise Port Tube:
On most port tubes, air leaves at different speeds from different points of the opening, creating noisy turbulence. This turbulence can be heard as "chuffing," or an audible air sound coming from the system. This sound will add to the noise floor and obscure the details of the low end.
The port tube on the WS-6.2 was designed to ensure that all of the air leaves the port tube at the same velocity. This helps add to the low end response of the subwoofer, while keeping the bass clean, tight, and devoid of extra noise.
Don't let a smaller space dictate what kind of sound you're capable of producing - get your hands on the Kali Audio WS62 dual 6-inch active studio subwoofer today and see why fans all over the world are raving about its incredible performance!
