The Martin 000-15SM acoustic is a powerhouse of pure, unadulterated tone. It forgoes flashy extras, instead focusing on the rich, resonant roots of traditional guitar making. For decades, this body style has been the secret weapon of both fingerpickers and bluegrass flatpickers, offering a remarkably comfortable feel and a unique voice that stands out in any mix. It’s an instrument that doesn't just play music; it tells stories.
The Magic of Mahogany
Wood matters, and the 000-15SM makes a massive mahogany statement. Stripped of heavy gloss and excessive binding, this acoustic lets the tonewood do the talking. The result is a profoundly warm, woody resonance that wraps around your ears like a heavy blanket on a cold night. It pushes out punchy mids and a sweet, singing top end that responds beautifully to the lightest touch or the heaviest strum.
All-Solid Mahogany Construction: The top, back, and sides are crafted from solid mahogany, delivering a dark, earthy tone with exceptional clarity and natural compression.
Non-Scalloped Spruce X-Bracing: Hidden beneath the hood, this bracing pattern provides brilliant structural support while allowing the mahogany top to vibrate freely and project loudly.
Smooth Satin Finish: The understated satin finish doesn't just look beautifully vintage; it keeps the neck feeling incredibly fast and lets the wood breathe for maximum resonance.
A Fingerpicker's Dream
Comfort is king when you are navigating complex chord melodies. The 000-15SM features a longer body design that naturally places the bridge in the sweet spot of the lower bout, maximizing bass response and volume. It rests perfectly on your knee, begging you to dig into intricate country-blues patterns for hours on end.
12-Fret Neck Joint: By joining the body at the 12th fret, the bridge is shifted downward, creating a richer, rounder, and more robust sonic footprint compared to standard 14-fret models.
Wider 1 3/4" Nut Width: Give your fingers the real estate they deserve. The slightly wider nut provides ample string spacing, making complex fingerstyle playing an absolute breeze.
25.4" Scale Length: The longer scale length ensures excellent string tension, giving your notes a snappy, articulate bite that articulates every single nuance of your playing.
Vintage Vibe, Modern Mastery
Looks aren't everything, but they certainly don't hurt. The 000-15SM drips with retro-cool swagger, taking design cues straight from Martin's historic archives. It has a stripped-down, Depression-era aesthetic that looks incredibly classy on stage or sitting on a stand in your living room. It proves that sometimes, less truly is more.
Slotted Headstock: A glorious nod to early 20th-century craftsmanship, the slotted headstock increases the string break angle over the nut for enhanced sustain and undeniable vintage charm.
Auditorium Body Size: Perfectly proportioned, the 000 body is smaller and more comfortable than a dreadnought, yet it still pushes out plenty of volume for unamplified jams.
Diamond and Squares Inlays: The elegant abalone fingerboard inlays provide a subtle touch of class against the dark rosewood or morado fretboard.
A Mahogany Masterpiece
The Martin 000-15SM is what happens when a legendary guitar maker sticks to the script of tone, comfort, and class. It captures the soul of traditional acoustic music while offering the flawless playability modern musicians demand. It’s a beautifully built, mahogany masterpiece for players who want to explore the deepest depths of acoustic expression.

Martin is a Martin !
Well I tried to find a bad review on this little gem but couldn’t find one.. That being said I am glad I chose this model. Not a lot of bling which is nice. The size is super comfortable and the Martin sound is priceless. The Mahogany is warm full of sustain and louder than I thought it would be. Th...

Huge sound for the size
Sounds like a far larger guitar, great bass response. Wonderful guitar for finger picking, but a great strummer as well. Probably the best guitar in martin's 15 series, holds its own compared to my 00018.

Great Guitar
Bought this guitar as a backup and it slowly became my main axe. I had an LR baggs anthem installed and she’s good to go. Sounds great, plays great. I like not having a lot of fancy options. Solid wood looks and sounds so good, cannot recommendation enough.

In love
Where do I begin. If you think this model and the 14 fret version are comparable, well they're not. Sonically this guitar soars. The sustain is incredible and the balance of low end bass, punchy mids and just enough sparkle on the highs is left desiring more. I own several spruce top/rosewood back a...

12 fret OOO is hard to beat.
Found no flaws in the fit or finish. I am a big fan of all mahogany guitars and in this case the OOO size with 12 fret slotted head stock. Deep rich sound I like a lot.
