Mesa Boogie Mark IIC Plus HRG Tube Amp Head 60/100W
The legend returns. The Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+ HRG faithfully recreates the highly sought-after "Hundred-Watt, Reverb, Graphic EQ" configuration that cemented Mesa’s reputation in heavy rock.
While Simul-Class models often get the attention, this 100-watt Class A/B amplifier was the go-to for players needing massive clean headroom and a lead tone with a sharp, percussive attack. This iconic sound, famously used by John Petrucci, is reborn to deliver the same powerful authority and tight, punchy low end to a new generation of musicians.
Unrivaled Power and Headroom
The HRG features a 100-watt power section powered by four 6L6 tubes, delivering a punchy, clear response that remains tight even at high volumes.
Selectable Power Ratings: You aren’t always playing a stadium, so the HRG lets you drop the engine down to 60 watts. This smooths out the response for a little more clip and saturation at manageable volumes, without losing the amp's core character.
Dual Mode Preamp: This isn't a one-trick pony. The preamp design offers a wide versatility, moving from crystalline, high-headroom cleans in Rhythm mode to the blistering, cascading high-gain saturation of Lead mode that defined the "California Sound."
Class A/B Power: Unlike the Simul-Class switching found on other Mark models, the HRG sticks to pure Class A/B power. This results in a stiffer, faster, and more aggressive feel that’s perfect for tight, rhythmic playing and cutting through a dense mix.
Sculpting Your Signature Sound
A Mesa Boogie isn’t just an amp; it’s an instrument in itself, designed to be tweaked until it matches the sound in your head perfectly. The control layout on the Mark IIC+ HRG invites deep exploration, offering layers of tone-shaping possibilities that go far beyond a standard bass-mid-treble setup.
Iconic 5-Band Graphic EQ: This is the slider set that changed everything. Footswitchable and assignable, the onboard Graphic EQ allows you to radically tailor your sound — whether you’re scooping the mids for that classic "V" metal curve or boosting specific frequencies to stand out during a solo.
Pull-Shift Voicing: The knobs on the faceplate do double duty. By pulling the Master 1, Lead Drive, and Lead Master controls, you engage "Deep" and "Bright" circuits that drastically alter the amp's voicing, adding low-end thump or top-end sparkle exactly where you need it.
Tube-Driven Reverb: Add space and depth to your tone without sacrificing clarity. The built-in spring reverb is driven by tubes for a lush, organic decay that sits perfectly behind your notes, softening the edges of your clean tones or adding atmospheric trails to your leads.
Ready for the Road and the Studio
Modern rigs demand flexibility, and the Mark IIC+ HRG is equipped to integrate seamlessly into professional setups. Whether you’re running a complex wet/dry/wet system or simply need a reliable way to connect your pedalboard, the connectivity options on the back panel have you covered.
Buffered Series FX Loop: Keep your delays, reverbs, and other time-based effects sounding pristine. This tube-buffered loop preserves your signal integrity, ensuring your effects interact perfectly with the amp's preamp for a flawless performance.
Slave Output: Ready to build a truly massive rig? The Slave Out captures the amp's entire sound — preamp and power section — to drive external power amps, effects processors, or IR loaders. It’s the secret to creating scalable setups and sending a consistent signal every time.
Industrial Strength Chassis: Hand-wired in Petaluma, California, and housed in a rugged steel chassis, this head is built like a tank. It's designed to endure the punishing demands of the road, delivering reliable, top-tier performance night after night.
The Legend Returns
If you’ve been chasing the ghost of the original IIC+, the search is finally over. The 100watt beast is back! Add the legendary Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+ HRG to your rig, and you’ll never be at a loss for headroom again.
