Peavey 6505 II Guitar Amplifier Head

The Peavey 6505 II Guitar Amplifier Head builds upon the legacy of one of the most iconic high-gain amplifiers in history. Designed to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original 6505, this head retains the crushing power and distinct voice that defined modern metal while introducing expanded features for greater versatility.

With separate equalization controls for each channel and footswitchable flexibility, the 6505 II offers the precise control touring professionals demand without sacrificing the raw aggression that made its predecessor a legend.

Peavey 6505 II The Standard for High-Gain Power

    The Standard for High-Gain Power

At the heart of the 6505 II is a relentless tube-driven engine designed to deliver massive headroom and articulate saturation. It captures the exact sonic signature of the 1992 original, ensuring that every chug and lead line cuts through the mix with authority.

    • 120 Watts of Tube Power: Powered by four 6L6GC power tubes and six 12AX7 preamp tubes, this amplifier delivers earth-shaking volume and dynamic response, providing ample headroom for any stage or studio environment.
    • Custom-Designed Transformer: To ensure the tone remains true to the original, the output transformer has been meticulously engineered to replicate the magical low-end response and mid-range bark of the classic 1992 model.
    • Two Distinct Channels: The Rhythm and Lead channels offer a wide palette of tones, from crystalline cleans to the scorching overdrive that defined a genre, allowing players to cover diverse musical landscapes with a single amp.

    Expanded Control and Shaping

The most significant evolution in the 6505 II is the ability to shape your sound with precision. Previous limitations of shared equalization have been removed, giving you independent control over the voicing of each channel for a truly customized performance.

    • Independent EQ and Power Amp Controls: Each channel now features its own dedicated three-band EQ, along with separate Resonance and Presence controls, allowing you to dial in the perfect low-end thump and high-end cut for both rhythm and lead settings independently.
    • Footswitchable Crunch and Bright Channels: The Rhythm channel is equipped with a Crunch switch to push the preamp into a gritty overdrive, as well as a Bright switch for added clarity — both of which can be engaged via the included footswitch for instant tonal shifts.
    • Three-Button Footswitch: The included metal footswitch provides hands-free command over channel selection, the effects loop, and the crunch mode, ensuring you can focus entirely on your performance rather than your gear.

    Peavey 6505 II Pro-Grade Connections

    Pro-Grade Connections

Designed for both heavy touring and precision studio work, the 6505 II features a robust build that simplifies setup. It fits seamlessly into any rig and includes practical tools to keep your amp running at peak performance without the technical headache.

    • Bias Test Points: Located conveniently on the rear panel, these test points allow technicians to easily check and adjust the bias of the power tubes, ensuring optimal tone and extending the life of your tubes without needing to open the chassis.
    • Effects Loop and Preamp Out: The dedicated effects loop allows for pristine integration of time-based effects like delay and reverb, while the preamp out jack offers a direct signal feed for recording or connecting to slave power amps.
    • Switchable Impedance: With a selector switch for 4, 8, or 16 ohms and two parallel speaker outputs, this head is compatible with virtually any speaker cabinet configuration, making it a reliable choice for touring guitarists using backline gear.

    This amp is as amazing

This amp is as amazing as I remembered. Glad to have it back in my collection, I bought it once brand new when it first came out and loved it. Not sure why but I got rid of it only to regret it. This amp is a fire breathing monster.
