The Positive Grid Reactor 50 took amp design to a whole new level. Built around Amp Intelligence — a genuinely novel AI-powered tone engine — the Reactor 50 lets you conjure your ideal sound by describing it, photographing it, or uploading a reference. Selectable wattage, a custom 1x12" speaker, and top-panel controls so intuitive you'd think the manual wrote itself, the Reactor 50 is a 50-watt combo that's equally at home in the bedroom or on stage. The guitar amp, redesigned from the ground up.
Tone That Does What You Tell It
Most amps make you chase tone. Tweak a knob, find a sound, tweak another knob, lose the sound — repeat until you've completely forgotten what you were after in the first place. Amp Intelligence flips that process on its head. Describe what you want in plain English, drop in a photo, or upload a reference track, and the Reactor figures it out, delivering a playable tone in real time. It also learns your preferences and improves the more you use it — which, honestly, is more than can be said for most people.
Text, Audio & Image to Tone: Type "tight mid-gain British crunch," snap a photo of a pedalboard you like, or upload a track you're chasing. Amp Intelligence analyzes the input and builds a matching tone from scratch, grounded in the circuit-level DNA of over 200 legendary amp designs.
Build Your Own Amps: Go past matching existing gear and construct amp voices that have never physically existed. Adjust gain stages, EQ curves, bias points, and harmonic response, then name them, save them, and share them on ToneCloud.
Tone Memory: Every prompt, adjustment, and setting gets logged. Each session starts a little closer to where you want to be — like autocomplete, but for guitar tone and actually useful.
Intuitive Controls That Make Sense
There’s a special circle of frustration reserved for amps that bury essential controls three menus deep. The Reactor 50 didn't go there. The top panel puts gain, EQ, reverb, effects, master volume, and preset recall exactly where you'd expect them — with classic knobs and zero menu diving required. Two additional switches, Push/Smooth and Heat +/-, do things you genuinely won't find anywhere else.
For deeper editing sessions, the REACTOR App offers a full drag-and-drop tone studio. And if you want foot control on stage, the optional REACTOR Control footswitch handles that without getting in the way of your performance.
Classic Top Panel Layout: Immediate hands-on access to every essential control, including gain, EQ, reverb, and effects, with mod switches for extended tweaking. No menus. No learning curve. Just play.
Push/Smooth & Heat +/- Switches: Push/Smooth shifts from laid-back rhythm to cutting lead tone without touching the gain knob. Heat +/- adjusts feel and harmonic response without significantly moving the volume — two controls that have no equivalent on any other amp.
REACTOR App & Optional Footswitch: The companion app brings full visual signal chain editing, OTA updates, and Amp Intelligence tone generation to a drag-and-drop interface. Add the REACTOR Control footswitch for six-switch, expression-ready stage control, wired or wireless.
Stage Volume Without the Stage
Here's the quiet tragedy of most great-sounding amps: they only sound great loud. Crank them in the studio and you're golden. Dial them back for a late-night session and suddenly you're playing through what sounds like a damp pillow. The Reactor 50 doesn't do that. Selectable wattage — 1W, 25W, or full 50W — keeps the tone full and present at any volume. The custom 1x12" speaker in a solid wood cabinet delivers real warmth and presence whether you're tracking at midnight or opening a set. It sounds like itself, wherever you play it.
Selectable Wattage (1W / 25W / 50W): Three power settings that actually change how the amp feels and responds, not just how loud it gets. Full, present tone at bedroom levels isn't a workaround — it's built in.
Custom 1x12" Guitar Speaker: Designed specifically for the Reactor, this speaker delivers balanced lows, rich mids, and articulate highs across the entire wattage range. No tonal thinning. No compromise.
Solid Wood Cabinet Construction: A sturdy wood cabinet that contributes genuine acoustic character to the sound, not just somewhere to put the speaker. Built to travel, hold its shape, and not become a liability during load-in.
24 Amps, 27 Effects, and Infinite Headroom
The Reactor 50 ships with 24 amp models and 27 effects right out of the box, with eight simultaneous effect slots and full parameter access on every one of them. That's a serious amount of tone real estate before you've built a single custom amp or downloaded anything from ToneCloud. The signal chain is fully flexible — drag effects anywhere, insert the FX loop at any point, and route external pedals exactly where you want them. Every change is immediate and audible, which means you spend your time playing instead of waiting for a buffer to catch up.
24 Amp Models + Build-Your-Own: Start with 24 professionally modeled amps and expand without limits. Full parameter access — gain structure, EQ, bias, voicing — on every model, stock or custom.
8 Simultaneous Effects with Full Control: Gate, Compressor, Drive, Modulation, Delay, Reverb, Wah, and EQ, all running at once with individual parameter control. Insert the FX loop anywhere in the signal chain.
Comprehensive Connectivity: USB-C audio interface, MIDI In, FX Loop, Power Amp In, Bluetooth, Line Out, and Headphone Out. It connects to everything, plays nicely with your existing setup, and doesn't make you buy a separate audio interface.
The Amp That Grows With You
The Positive Grid Reactor 50 is the rare piece of gear that earns its place in the room and keeps earning it. It's a real guitar amp — solid, purposeful, and stage-ready — that also happens to carry an AI tone engine capable of building sounds that no other amp can touch.
Whether you're hunting a specific vintage crunch or building something that has never existed before, the Reactor 50 is the tool that makes it happen. It learns what you like, adapts to how you play, and sounds like itself at any volume.

I traded out my Marshall Code 50 for this unit. Within a few minutes of setup, I already dialed in some of my favorite band’s tones with ease - something I had struggled mightily to do with the Marshall. The AI feature is nice. I recommend the foot switch as well. It’s wireless and gives you a great...

Frequently Asked Questions
The Reactor 50 uses Amp Intelligence to generate tone from text descriptions, audio references, and images — not just a library of static presets. It also learns your preferences over time and lets you build custom amp models from scratch, which no other combo amp currently offers.
Yes, selectable wattage (1W, 25W, or 50W) keeps the tone full and responsive at any output level. Unlike many amps that thin out when turned down, the Reactor 50 is specifically designed to maintain its character whether you're playing in a bedroom or on stage.
No. The top panel gives you immediate access to gain, EQ, reverb, effects, master volume, and preset recall without touching a phone or tablet. The REACTOR App unlocks deeper editing and Amp Intelligence features, but the amp is fully functional as a standalone unit.
ToneCloud is Positive Grid's community platform where players share and download tones and custom amp builds. With the Reactor 50, you can browse tones created by other players, download them directly to your amp, and share your own custom amp designs with the community.
Absolutely. The Reactor 50 is built for the stage, with a solid wood cabinet, robust top-panel controls, selectable wattage for venue-appropriate volume, and compatibility with the optional REACTOR Control footswitch for hands-free preset switching. It also includes MIDI In and full connectivity for integration into larger live rigs.
