Sometimes the gear on the computer screen seems like a better fit than when you actually get your hands on it. We understand, and that’s why AMS offers an industry-leading 45-day money-back guarantee. If you’re not happy with an item, you have a full month and a half to send it back! We don’t want to just sell you gear. We want to sell you the RIGHT gear — even if it takes a few tries.
Behold, the drum kit that gets a double-take every single time. Is it acoustic? Is it electronic? Yes. The Roland VAD516 is the beautiful paradox you’ve been waiting for, blending the commanding stage presence of a full acoustic set with the devastating power of V-Drums technology. It’s for the serious player who loves the look and feel of wood shells and gleaming chrome but demands the surgical control and endless flexibility of a digital brain. This isn't a compromise; it's the best of both worlds, fused into one breathtaking instrument.
The VAD516 isn’t just about looking the part—it's about feeling it in your bones. The full-depth wood shells and traditional double-braced hardware give you the exact physical feedback and commanding posture of a high-end acoustic kit. But the real sorcery lies in the digital pads. The VH-14D hi-hats offer mind-boggling open/closed resolution, while the CY-18DR ride cymbal captures every nuance from the bell to the edge. Both feature touch muting, giving you hands-on dynamic control that feels utterly natural. This is digital drumming that finally speaks the language of muscle memory.
Let’s have a moment of silence for the PD-14DSX digital snare. This thing isn't just a pad; it's an intelligence officer. It knows where you hit it, how you hit it, and even detects the position of your hand for ridiculously authentic cross-stick sounds. It even has a working throw-off switch! Paired with the formidable 20-inch KD-20-MS kick drum, which moves real air and gives you that satisfying acoustic thump, the core of your kit feels less like an electronic simulation and more like a living, breathing instrument.
At the heart of this beast is the V51 module, a direct descendant of our flagship V71 engine. It’s your mission control for everything. Stream backing tracks via Bluetooth for practice. Record multichannel audio and MIDI directly to your computer with a single USB-C cable. Dive into the built-in coaching tools to sharpen your chops. And when you’re ready to expand, multiple trigger inputs and the vast universe of Roland Cloud are waiting. The VAD516 is designed to be the centerpiece of your creative life, from the practice room to the recording studio to the main stage.
