Schecter Sunset 6 ET EX Red Dawn Baritone Electric Guitar

Built for players who treat "too heavy" as a compliment and "too loud" as a personal challenge, the Schecter Sunset 6 ET EX Red Dawn Baritone is the kind of guitar that makes soundproofing companies nervous. With its 27-inch scale length, Fishman Fluence pickups, and a look sharp enough to slice through any mix, the Red Dawn doesn't ask for space — it just takes it.

Schecter Sunset 6 ET EX Red Dawn Baritone Tone That Crushes

    Tone That Crushes (By Design)

Getting big, articulate sound out of a baritone guitar isn't automatic — it takes the right combination of tonewoods, hardware, and pickup design working together so nothing gets muddy or lost in the low end. Schecter nailed that balance here. The Red Dawn's basswood body soaks up and returns every note with full, resonant character, while the Fishman Fluence Modern Open-Core pickups make sure what comes out of your cab is tight, defined, and absolutely ferocious.

    • Fishman Fluence Modern Ceramic and Alnico Open-Core Pickups with Red Bobbins: Two distinct voicings in one pickup system means you can dial in crushing high-gain tones or cleaner, more dynamic sounds without swapping guitars mid-set. The red bobbins also look absolutely menacing, which is never a bad thing.
    • Basswood Body with Deep Resonance: Basswood punches above its weight class in the tonewood department, offering a warm, balanced response that lets the low strings breathe without turning to mud. It keeps the guitar light enough to survive a four-hour set without reconstructive shoulder surgery.
    • 27-Inch Baritone Scale Length: That extra scale length adds tension and clarity to every note in the lower registers, giving dropped tunings the articulation and punch they deserve instead of the woofy, undefined mess a standard-scale guitar delivers when tuned to the basement.

Speed, Comfort, and a Neck That Gets Out of Your Way

A guitar that sounds incredible but plays like wrestling a garden hose is nobody's idea of a good time. Schecter built the Red Dawn around a neck profile and fretboard combination that rewards technique and encourages players to push their limits — not fight their instrument.

    • 3-Piece Maple Neck with Ultra-Thin C Profile: The multi-piece maple construction adds stability across temperature and humidity changes, while the Ultra-Thin C profile keeps your fretting hand moving fast and fatigue-free. It's the kind of neck that disappears under your hand, which is exactly what a well-designed neck should do.
    • Ebony Fretboard with 16-Inch Radius: Ebony is dense, smooth, and naturally fast under the fingertips, making it a favorite among shredders for good reason. The flatter 16-inch radius keeps bends clean and comfortable all the way up the neck, with no unwanted fretting out to ruin your solo.
    • Ultra Access Neck Joint: The deep-cut heel joint opens up the upper frets in a way that makes playing in the stratosphere feel natural rather than like an awkward yoga pose. High-register leads, pinch harmonics, and sweep patterns are all within comfortable reach.

Schecter Sunset 6 ET EX Red Dawn Baritone Built for Players Who Take Their Tone Seriously

Built for Players Who Take Their Tone Seriously

Aesthetics and engineering aren't usually on speaking terms in the guitar world, but Schecter managed to get them in the same room. The Red Dawn's double-cutaway body combines the aggressive look of a serious metal guitar with ergonomic shaping that keeps it comfortable whether you're sitting in on a writing session or standing front-center at a sold-out show.

    • Double Cutaway Design: Symmetrical cutaways give the body a clean, aggressive silhouette while providing full access to both sides of the fretboard. It's functional and intimidating, which is a combination most guitarists actively aspire to.
    • Purpose-Built for Extended-Range and Baritone Players: Every design decision on this guitar — from the scale length to the pickup selection — was made with the modern heavy music player in mind. It's not a standard guitar with a longer neck bolted on; it's a dedicated baritone instrument built to perform.

A Baritone That Doesn't Mess Around

The Schecter Sunset 6 ET EX Red Dawn Baritone is a no-nonsense instrument built for players who know exactly what they want. The Fishman Fluence pickups slice through even the densest mixes, and the fast ebony fretboard makes ambitious leads feel effortless. This guitar earns its place in any heavy music context. If your current axe has been whispering "maybe calm down a little," it's probably time to hand it a gold watch and bring in the Red Dawn.

    This thing sounds absolutely dark

This thing sounds absolutely dark and deep and showed up and tuned to Drop G# and sounds amazing. Great craftsmanship and zero blemishes found. Looked like someone played on it a little and sent it back . Your loss is my gain bud! Killer Axe!!!!

    Frequently Asked Questions

The 27-inch scale length is optimized for drop-A, drop-B, and B standard tunings, where it delivers clear, tight articulation without floppiness. It also handles standard and drop-D tunings just fine.

Fishman Fluence Modern Open-Core pickups offer two distinct active voicings that cover everything from tight, high-gain metal tones to warmer, more dynamic sounds — all without the background hiss common in traditional active pickups. For players who want versatility and clarity in a high-output pickup, they're a significant upgrade over most passive alternatives.

While it's clearly built for heavy music, the dual-voicing Fishman pickups and resonant basswood body give it enough range to handle hard rock, progressive, and even blues-influenced playing in lower tunings. It just happens to be exceptionally good at the heavy stuff.

A baritone guitar has a longer scale length — typically 27 inches or more — and is designed to be tuned lower than a standard guitar without losing string tension or note definition. The Red Dawn's 27-inch scale gives lower tunings a tighter, more articulate sound that a standard-scale guitar simply can't replicate.

The guitar does not include a case, but Schecter offers the Premium Molded Hardshell Cases as a compatible add-on sold separately. For any player taking this guitar out of the house regularly, it's a worthwhile addition.
