Sire’s core models — V7, P7, and V7 Vintage — will transition to the New Gen, seven years after the launch of the 2nd Gen. Sire has reflected the extensive feedback they’ve received for their flagship models, V7 and P7, and this update represents the most significant effort they’ve invested so far.
Sire V7 Vintage New Gen Ash 4-String Bass Guitar Features:
- Fast attack & enhanced upper-mid presence
- Swamp Ash body
- Hard Maple neck
- Edgeless fretboard for comfort
- Marcus Vintage-J Revolution pickup
- Marcus Heritage-3 preamp
- Blender Knob for pickup balance
- Push/Pull Bass knob for passive/active toggle
1. Swamp Ash Body for Clearer Attack and Visual Differentiation
This variant uses a swamp ash body finished in Natural to highlight the wood grain. Compared to alder, swamp ash provides a slightly faster attack, enhanced upper-mid presence, and more note separation, while still retaining a traditional J-bass tonal profile. The Natural finish offers strong visual differentiation on the sales floor.
2. Vintage-Correct Neck Specs with New Gen Comfort Updates
The bass features a New Gen C-shape neck, 7.25"" vintage fingerboard radius, and 2.0 mm small vintage fretwire, delivering a traditional feel. Edgeless rolled fretboard edges improve hand comfort without altering vintage geometry. Hard maple neck and fingerboard provide a familiar response and consistent feel across units.
3. Simplified Vintage Electronics and Period-Correct Hardware
The Marcus Vintage-J Revolution pickup set is paired with the Marcus Heritage-3 preamp (no mid-frequency control) for a more traditional signal path. Push/pull active-passive switching maintains flexibility while keeping the control layout simple. Vintage-S bridge, lightweight open-gear tuners, and black block/binding aesthetics reinforce the classic positioning.
