Well-known for their articulate, punch midrange, present yet smooth high-frequency response, and well-defined low end, Tobias basses set the high-performance standard for modern bassists. Built using high-quality tone woods the Growler IV features a 34" scale, 3-piece neck made from hard maple and purpleheart. It has a 24-fret wenge fretboard and features the comfortable Tobias Asym neck profile for exceptional playability.
The well-balanced and ergonomically contoured body is made from paulownia, a highly musical and lightweight tone wood. Tobias basses are equipped with high-end hardware, including a Babicz bridge and Gotoh tuners. The electronics are equally advanced with a Bartolini active humbucking pickup and an expansive collection of tone-shaping controls that allow you to quickly dial in your ideal sound. Q: I've seen this bass on various websites also Gibson's official website, the photos of the back don't show a 9-volt battery cover. Does this need a 9-volt battery? There is only one cover on the backside and it's usually for access for luthier's or owners to install copper...

A: Yes, these do have active pickups which require 9v batteries. The battery compartment is located within the control cavity on the back of the bass.
