Sure, tonewoods make a difference. So do the bridge and the strings. But what really makes your electric guitar sing are the pickups. And Seymour Duncan came to NAMM 2026 with some incredible new pickups that’ll take your tone to the next level. From new three-voice humbuckers to a brand-new Slash signature set, here are the latest offerings from Seymour Duncan.
Seymour Duncan has officially entered the multi-voice pickup game with MortalCoil. Aside from its awesome name, these things sound amazing with three different voices you can choose from with the flip of a switch or the pull of a knob:
Voice 1: Modern metal active humbucker
Voice 2: Classic JB/Jazz combo
Voice 3: Single coil sparkle
The new MortalCoils use the same connections as regular active pickups or other multi-voice pickups, so they’re easy to swap into your favorite axe.
JB/Jazz 50th Anniversary Limited Edition
Bert and Ernie, Simon and Garfunkel, there have been many iconic duos throughout history. But it’s hard to compete with a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge and a Jazz pickup in the neck. It’s one of the most versatile and best-sounding duos in all of music! And to celebrate their 50th anniversary, Seymour Duncan has released a special limited edition JB/Jazz set.
The JB/Jazz 50th Anniversary Limited Edition set goes all the way back to the beginning with period-correct specs. There was a lot of nerd talk about butyrate bobbins, longer legs, single conductors, long-cast spacers, and such when we were hanging out at the NAMM 2026 Seymour Duncan booth, but basically these are about as close to a golden-age JB/Jazz set as you’ll ever be able to find!
But you can only get them for 2026. Because in 2027, it’ll be SD’s 51st anniversary, and it wouldn’t make sense anymore…
Seymour Duncan and Slash go way back. He’s had several iterations of his signature pickup, always sporting Alnico II magnets. But that’s all about to change with Slash 3.0.
For his most recent tour, Slash wanted to play an SG, which is lighter, thinner, and doesn’t have the maple cap like his go-to Les Paul. But he still wanted to keep his iconic tone. So Slash asked Seymour Duncan what they could do.
What they could do was boost the output with Alnico V magnets! Slash 3.0 pickups are a little hotter, give a little more output, and offer a touch more brightness. But just because Slash plans to use them in an SG, they still sound great in a Les Paul, as demoed at the Seymour Duncan NAMM booth.
